A heartfelt speech by Ghiwa El Kaissi

A heartfelt speech

Jesse Williams is an actor known for his role is Grey's Anatomy. He was awarded BET's Humanity award. Through his speech, he delivered the message of the must of egality in America. He insisted on the racism present in their country and how he is fully against it. The speech put the listeners in tears. Jesse said:
"Now, this award – this is not for me. This is for the real organizers all over the country – the activists, the civil rights attorneys, the struggling parents, the families, the teachers, the students that are realizing that a system built to divide and impoverish and destroy us cannot stand if we do.It’s kind of basic mathematics – the more we learn about who we are and how we got here, the more we will mobilize.
Now, this is also in particular for the black women in particular who have spent their lifetimes dedicated to nurturing everyone before themselves. We can and will do better for you.
Now, what we’ve been doing is looking at the data and we know that police somehow manage to deescalate, disarm and not kill white people everyday. So what’s going to happen is we are going to have equal rights and justice in our own country or we will restructure their function and ours.
Now… I got more y’all – yesterday would have been young Tamir Rice’s 14th birthday so I don’t want to hear anymore about how far we’ve come when paid public servants can pull a drive-by on 12 year old playing alone in the park in broad daylight, killing him on television and then going home to make a sandwich. Tell Rekia Boyd how it’s so much better than it is to live in 2012 than it is to live in 1612 or 1712. Tell that toEric Garner. Tell that to Sandra Bland. Tell that to Dorian Hunt.
Now the thing is, though, all of us in here getting money – that alone isn’t gonna stop this. Alright, now dedicating our lives, dedicating our lives to getting money just to give it right back for someone’s brand on our body when we spent centuries praying with brands on our bodies, and now we pray to get paid for brands on our bodies.
There has been no war that we have not fought and died on the front lines of. There has been no job we haven’t done. There is no tax they haven’t leveed against us – and we’ve paid all of them. But freedom is somehow always conditional here. “You’re free,” they keep telling us. But she would have been alive if she hadn’t acted so… free.
Now, freedom is always coming in the hereafter, but you know what, though, the hereafter is a hustle. We want it now.
And let’s get a couple things straight, just a little sidenote – the burden of the brutalized is not to comfort the bystander. That’s not our job, alright – stop with all that. If you have a critique for the resistance, for our resistance, then you better have an established record of critique of our oppression. If you have no interest, if you have no interest in equal rights for black people then do not make suggestions to those who do. Sit down.
We’ve been floating this country on credit for centuries, yo, and we’re done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us, burying black people out of sight and out of mind while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil – black gold, ghettoizing and demeaning our creations then stealing them, gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit. The thing is though… the thing is that just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real.
Thank you."

7 things that gymnasts and cheerleaders do totally differently by Sara Fanous

7 things that gymnasts and cheerleaders do totally differently

1. Arm positions.
-Gymnasts land skills with their arms up.
-Cheerleaders land skills with their arms down.

2. Posture.
-Gymnasts throw their chin, shoulders, and chest up at the end of skills.
-Cheerleaders land with their chins down and arms by their side.

3. The name and form of this position.
-Gymnasts call these jumps "Straddle Jumps" and throw their arms up.
-Cheerleaders call these jumps "Toe-Touches" and punch down.

4. Hand positions.
-Gymnasts' hands are inspired by ballet.
-Cheerleaders' hands are balled in fists.

5. Choreography.
-Gymnasts dance in a variety of styles. Nastia Liukin, for example, was famous for her sharp but graceful movements.
-Cheerleaders dance in staccato, high-energy choreography.

6. The order of skills.
-Gymnasts typically flip, then jump.
-Cheerleaders typically jump, then flip.

7. Their fulls (back layout with a full twist) look totally different.
-Gymnasts usually do fulls at the end of tumbling passes - almost never from standing.
-Cheerleaders sometimes do fulls from standing - wich is hard (no momentum to build off of) - so their knees sometimes turn inwards as they jump or come apart in the air.

The garbage in Lebanon by Suma El Baba

Since last year, we have a really serious crisis in Lebanon ; the garbage crisis.
It's been a year and a half since we have the garbage crisis in Lebanon. In many regions, there are mountains of garbage because of the political issues and because we didn't have a president and because they didn't know where to put all the garbage. Thankfully, we now have a very old president and hopefully things are going to get better. Last year the sukleen company decided to take a break and not to collect the garbage all around the country, so there was a massive pollution and lots of garbage everywhere. And this crisis could lead to a lot of helath promblems so us lebanese hope that everything will get better with a new president for this country.

You can make internet friends from all around the world!Just by clicking on a few buttons you discover different people that may have stuff in common with you. The two of you will exchange thoughts and talk about stuff you both like...but then you realize that it's impossible for you to meet each-other in real life and that's the sad part of being internet friends. On the other hand they are gonna always be here for you,you just have to find the right ones, pretty much like real life friends.

Scary experience by Mira Dimachkieh

Two years ago,me and my family went on a trip to Turkey.
On the first day, my dad decided that we should go to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque also called the Blue Mosque using the tramway. A new mode of transport that i didn't try before...
At the the end of the day we were going back to the hotel also by tramway but I little did I know that it would be that scary...
My dad passed the card in the paying machine for everyone of us.Then we took place on a bench waiting for the train to arrive.Nearly a minute passed and a train loaded with passengers arrived. My siblings and I ruched to the train doors trying to get in . My dad said that we'll take another train , but the problem was that I didn't hear him!
The train doors closed and I was locked in. Terrified, I tried to open them but they would not budge!
People didn't care about me crying and screaming ...
I got off on the first stop and started running trying to reach the place where I last saw my family. When I got there I didn't find any of my family members . I was really scared and no one seemed to care about me. All I could see was unfamiliar faces giving me weird looks. I phoned my parents and tried to give them my location by reading what was written on the sign that I was standing next to.
After 15 minutes I saw my dad looking for me so I ran to him as quickly as possible and gave him a big hug.
That day I thought that I would never see my family again or even comeback to Lebanon.Thank God all of this is over and that I am home now.I hope that no one falls in this experience and wish it would not happen to me again.

Istanbul by Ghiwa El Kaissi

Istanbul. a beautiful country
Istanbul is known as the country with a variety of historical monuments that must be visited.
My trip there lasted for four days but I got to see lots of breathtaking
places. I want to share with you the photos I managed to capture of these interesting
sights.
This is the Bosphorus Bridge that connects Asia with Europe in Turkey.
This is the Blue Mosque. It is known as Sultanahmet Camii. The mosque of Istanbul is one of the most known mosques. It was built between 1609 and 1616 during the reign of Sultan Ahmet Ist. Here is the inside:
This is Hagia Sophia. It was a Greek Orthodox Christian patriarchal basilica, later it became an imperial mosque and now it’s a museum. On the inside, both Christian and Muslim civilizations left traces of their believes.

Ressurection Mary by Mira Dimachkieh

I personnaly don't celebrate halloween but here's a scary story to tell in this holiday :
Ressurection Mary is a famous ghost story about Archer Avenue in Chicago, Ilinois. According to the legend, there have been numerous sightings of a ghostly young woman near Resurrection Cemetery wearing a long, white, flowing gown.

Résultat de recherche d'images pour "Resurrection Mary"Back in 1930, a young woman named Mary attended a dance and had an argument with her boyfriend. Mary ran out into the night and hitchhiked down Archer Avenue on that cold winter night. She was hit by a car and killed on impact. The driver fled the scene of the accident.
Mary was buried in Resurrection Cemetery, and ever since then, her ghost has been spotted walking down Archer Avenue and also at the ballroom where she danced that fateful night.

People who see Resurrection Mary say she is a young blond-haired, blue-eyed girl, dressed in a long white ball gown and dancing shoes. Some drivers have actually stopped and let her into their cars. They say her skin is cold and clammy to touch. She always asks them to let her out at the cemetery gates and then suddenly disappears into thin air.

In 1976, a passerby called the police after noticing a woman who appeared to be locked inside Resurrection Cemetery. When the police arrived, the woman was nowhere to be seen but there was physical evidence that the bars on the gate were bent apart. Not only that, her ghostly handprints were embedded in the bars.

Samsung note 7 by Tina Saade

Galaxy Note 7 recall
We're well over a month into the saga of the Galaxy Note 7 recall, and events have taken many different twists and turns since the beginning of September. The crux of the situation is that Samsung faced a serious issue with Galaxy Note 7 phones that have a high propensity of batteries failing, leading to personal and property damage. In the original, pre-recall Note 7, hundreds of phones worldwide have had critical failures.
The phone was recalled officially in the U.S. once, and Samsung launched exchange programs in other countries. But the new models continued to see further issues, with replacement catching on fire in early October. This led to Samsung telling Note 7 owners to stop using the phones and return them, before permanently discontinuing the Note 7. Shortly thereafter, the U.S. CPSC officially issued a second recall.

Music,a universal language by Mira Dimachkieh

A lot of people think that we should understand the language of the music to like it . But I don;t think that;s the case because is an international language that speaks thru sounds. People tend to stick with things they already know or are used to ,like routine and well known friends .they also judge because it;s different and don't give themselves a chance to discover new things .I hate these people...They think different is wrong.Well no,different is unique!
